Change an email password
Change a mailbox password if you have forgotten it, believe it may have been exposed, or need to revoke access from an old device. After the change, update the password in every email application that uses the mailbox.
Change the password
- Open the mailbox in Emails and select Reset.
- Set a unique password of at least ten characters containing a lowercase letter, uppercase letter, number and special character.
- Store the password in a trusted password manager.
- Select Save.
- Update the password immediately in Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, phones, tablets, scanners and other connected systems.
- Send and receive a test message.
Prevent temporary blocks
Devices that retain the old password may make repeated failed sign-in attempts. Update every client within a short period or temporarily remove the account from devices you cannot update immediately.
Do not share the password with colleagues or support. Where possible, give each employee a personal mailbox or appropriate shared access.
If the new password does not work, confirm that the username is the complete email address and compare the client with Email client settings.
